Introduction: As volunteers of the LoveHopes Life Support Team, we affirm the biblical importance of living above reproach, especially regarding sexual purity. Our integrity and witness for Christ are essential. We commit to upholding healthy boundaries and Christ-honoring relationships that reflect God’s holiness.
Biblical Basis for Sexual Purity and Our Commitment to Holiness: We commit to sexual purity, honoring God's standards (1 Thessalonians 4:3-8; 1 Corinthians 6:18-20). We strive to live above reproach, avoiding any behavior that could be perceived as inappropriate (Ephesians 5:3). We commit to living lives that reflect God's holiness, striving to be examples of purity and righteousness (1 Peter 1:15-16). We will support and encourage one another, holding each other accountable in love and truth.
Maintaining Proper Relationships: We will maintain healthy boundaries with the opposite sex (anyone who is not your spouse), including one on one meetings, physical contact, messaging, and social interactions. Communication should be transparent and professional, avoiding any private or intimate exchanges.
Prohibition Against Pornography: We unequivocally reject the use of pornography in any form, recognizing it as a harmful distortion of God's gift of sexuality (Matthew 5:27-28; Psalm 101:3). Engaging with pornography undermines our spiritual health and our witness for Christ.
Direct Expectations:
Fellowship: Every LoveHopes volunteer is required to be in regular fellowship with a local church, participating actively in worship and community life (Hebrews 10:24-25).
Acknowledgment: By signing this agreement, I commit to upholding the standards of sexual purity and maintaining healthy boundaries with everyone. I understand the importance of avoiding even the appearance of evil and the potential consequences of failing to adhere to these standards. I also agree to the direct expectations regarding regular fellowship with a local church. If I have any questions regarding anything outlined in this agreement, I will reach out to Misty at LoveHopes.
Scripture References (ESV):
1 Thessalonians 4:3-8: 3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, 5 not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. 7 For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. 8 Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
1 Corinthians 6:18-20: 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Ephesians 5:3: 3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.
1 Peter 1:15-16: 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
Matthew 5:27-28: 27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Psalm 101:3: 3 I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.
Hebrews 10:24-25: 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Proverbs 27:17: Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.
James 5:16: Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
1 Thessalonians 5:22: Abstain from every form of evil.
